Senior Monk’s Home – Gaden Shartse Monastery

In the beginning of 1971 Gaden Shartse was formally re-established in south India by 85 monks from Tibet. These founding members have gone through all kinds of hardships to make the monastery outgrow their expectations.

Under the visionary leadership of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and generations of wise abbots of the monastery the Gaden Shartse managed to do very well. Throughout the time the number of senior generation monks getting less due to old age.  We are grateful to have few still alive today with us to enjoy and celebrate great achievements of the monastery, in which they played crucial role. We cherish all the senior monks, whose great contribution have brought us to this position at present. Thus from the depth of our heart we care for these senior monks, who contributed greatly to preserve the Dharma and opened the highways of happiness and prosperity to all of us  and have amazing stories to tell about their struggle.

Therefore, the monastery specially built the Senior Monk’s Home as a tribute to previous generation, with special facilities to house the senior monks and rinpoche.   At
present we have twenty senior monks living in senior monk’s home getting all kinds of benefits special care, medical services and welfare etc.
